Diamond Information
Four factors that are considered when judging a diamond's quality and cost are: the diamond's color, its clarity, diamond cut, and carat weight. These four elements are known as the Four C's. We have included some information below to help you make an informed decision.

Colour
To the untrained eye, it is usually very difficult to tell the differences in diamond colour. The more colourless a diamond is, the greater its rarity and value. However, you don't need a D colour stone for it to appear colourless. Typically, in a modern round brilliant that is nicely cut, you won't be able to notice any tint if a stone is J colour or under.

Carat
Carat weight is the weight of the diamond measured in carats. Five carats are equal to one gram (one ounce = 28.4 grams).

Diamond Clarity
Diamond Clarity is a measure of a diamond's internal flaws and impurities. A diamond that is virtually free of interior or exterior inclusions (commonly referred to as flaws) is of the highest quality. To determine a diamond's clarity, it is viewed under 10x magnification by a trained gemologist.

Cut
Cut is a reference to the diamond's reflective qualities. A good cut gives a diamond its brilliance, which is that brightness that seems to come from the very heart of a diamond. When a diamond is well-cut, light enters through the table and travels to the pavilion where it reflects from one side to the other before reflecting back out of the diamond through the table and to the observer's eye.

Shape
There are many different shapes: round, square, pear, or heart for example. Since a round diamond is symmetrical and capable of reflecting nearly all the light that enters, it is the most brilliant of all diamond shapes.
